This is Ai Ai. She has been an FKI kid since she arrived at the Fuling orphanage as a baby. Her First Hugs auntie gave her love and care, and now she is part of an FKI sponsored foster family. Ai Ai's cerebral palsy has profoundly affected her ability to talk and walk. Because of FKI caring sponsors and the devoted orphanage staff, Ai Ai has received speech therapy, and it is helping! Ai Ai has started to reaching out to people. Her joy at being understood when she speaks is obvious. This smart, loving girl needs help now to learn to walk. This is FKI's next dream and effort for Ai Ai: Helping her get the physical therapy she needs to walk unsupported and with confidence and hope in the world.

Programs and Projects Your Donation Will Make Possible. Everyone knows a family is best for a child. Fuling Kids supports placing every child possible into a loving, trained and monitored foster family. It costs just $480 a year to place one child in a family in Fuling. Donors who give any amount toward a yearly sponsorship receive quarterly updates on the child they sponsor. Infants and toddlers who have not joined a foster family are matched with a trained, affectionate First Hugs caregiver or "auntie." Aunties spend hours each day "mothering" babies on the specially padded floor of Gracie's Room. Aunties teach the babies to explore the world around them, to bond, and to interact. They work with the babies to keep them developmentally on target. FKI consistently supports efforts to improve the lives of the children, including providing incubators, surgeries and medical supplies. Clean, drinkable water for all the children was also made possible when Fuling Kids funded a new water purification system. |
Fuling Kids International is a not-for-profit association of families and friends devoted to our children from Fuling and their first home in China. Fu families live in the United States, Canada, Australia, China, Sweden, France, Spain, Ireland, England, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Iceland! All the children of all abilities are integrated throughout Fuling's orphanage programs--in foster care and in First Hugs. In keeping with our goal that every child deserves to grow and thrive with love, FKI is working to expand the educational possibilities for the children with disabilities. A donation in this area will help a child receive therapy or purchase equipment that may help him or her learn to walk or talk. This is an urgent and expanding area of need at the orphanage. This new facility, is located in the countryside high above the city, promises a brighter future for any child brought through its doors. FKI supports construction of specific child-focused rooms, play areas, and equipment and furnishings that will provide a stimulating and healthy environment for all the children. |
