Children of all ages and all abilities get special care from their first hugs nannies or foster families Children with special needs, many of whom will not be adopted, have a home at the Fuling Social Welfare Institute. From the moment they arrive at the orphanage, trained caregivers help them grow and learn to interact with the world around them. Your help is necessary if these wonderful kids are to receive specialized and compassionate attention so crucial to healthy development. Your lovie will help little hands build strength, offer texture for stimulation, and be a comforting (and washable!) friend for sleep and playtime. Mail your "lovie" by May 15, 2009 to: Fuling Kids International c/o Kathlene Postma 2114 C Street Forest Grove, OR 97116 USA Questions? contact kathlene@fulingkids.org Thank you for helping the children at the Fuling Social Welfare Institute!

Change color and knit approx 3" (7.5cm) for pants. Change color and knit approx 2" (5.0cm) for shirt. Change to color you have chosen for the face. Knit approx 1 1/2" (4.0cm). Change color for hat and knit as follows: Row 1: Knit Row 2: Purl Row 3: Decrease 4 times evenly across row. Row 4: Purl Row 5: Decrease 4 times evenly across row. Row 6: Purl Row 7: Decrease 4 times evenly across row. Row 8: Purl Row 9: Knit 2 together across row. Thread needle and sew through remaining stitches pulling tight. You can make the face now or after stuffing (whichever is easiest for you). Sew up center seam in back. Stuff head. Weave a string around neck and pull tight to make a neck. Stuff body and sew up feet. Using a backstitch sew from waist to just below neck to form arms. Define legs in the same way sewing from bottom to just below waist. Make sure all your knots are very secure (and baby safe), and the yarn washed. Please don't add buttons or anything potentially chokable. |
