What Your Gift Makes Possible
Infants and children of all ages and all abilities who have not joined a family are matched with a trained, affectionate First Hugs caregiver or "auntie." Aunties spend hours each day "mothering" babies on the specially padded floor of the playroom and helping the children as they get older to explore their world and become more confident and capable. Aunties teach the kids to bond and to interact. They work to to keep them developmentally on target.
In keeping with our goal that every child deserves to grow and thrive with love, we have expanded the educational possibilities for the children with disabilities. We founded the orphanage's first school with a year round teacher! A donation in this area will also help a child receive therapy or equipment that may help him or her learn to walk, talk, and grow more independent.
FKI consistently supports efforts to improve the lives of the children, including providing therapy, incubators, bottles for special needs babies and medical supplies.
