School with a Big Heart Gives to

First Hugs for Fuling

The faculty and staff of Binks Forest Elementary School in Wellington, Florida donated over $2000 to the First Steps and First Hugs for Fuling.  Who inspires these wonderful people to give so generously to the babies of Fuling?  Fellow teacher Donna Purtell.

A Fuling Fairy Godmother

The children of the Fuling Social Welfare Institute inspire Donna, who experienced the orphanage and kids first hand when she accompanied the Mowery Family on their trips to Fuling to adopt daughters Kathryn (in 2002) and Elizabeth (in 2004).  Fairy Godmother to these sisters, Donna does her darndest to keep her crown twinkling every chance she gets.

Donna feels a special connection to the children of all five of this year's First Hugs Runners, as she was with those parents at the magical moments when they met their new daughters in Fuling.  She came away from these powerful trips feeling a great tie to the children of the Fuling Social Welfare Institute as well as a great desire to help.

The infant nurture program in Fuling, which promises to help hundreds of children know love and nuture, captured Donna's imagination and prompted her to share stories and pictures of these wonderful kids with her colleagues.  She asked them to help.  And boy did they!

Fuling Kids International wants to say thank you to the Binks Forest Elementary School contributors.  You not only touch the lives of the children you teach every day, you have made all the difference in the lives children on the other side of the world.

Donna's fairy godmother crown just earned yet another jewel--a pink one, if Kathryn Mowery were to choose.
