to hire and train 10 "hugging" nannies and help 40 little ones know constant affection!

more of the 300 infants and
toddlers living at the orphanage (and not in foster homes) to receive
holding, stimulation, and affection through First Hugs! Please

Gracie's Room
The orphanage have assigned a special room at the orphanage to be
devoted exclusively to First Hugs' baby play and stimulation!
Because of the generosity of the families and friends of Fulinger Gracie
Reilly, Gracie's Room will be an important part of the new orphanage as
well!

A
held child is a healthy child.
The dedicated caregivers
at the orphanage offer as much attention as possible to the hundreds of
babies in their care. But the children
need so much more. We can help the caregivers in their
crucial work by making it possible to bring in nannies whose sole job is
to offer love and stimulation to the babies.
Our 2004 First Hugs Runners:
Melissa
Mannasee, Mom to Marie DeXiang (Fuling) and Anne Mei (Huai Hua, Hunan)
Melissa Merchant, mom to Molly Elizabeth DeDi (Fuling)
How awesome would it be for the babies to be held, played with on the floor, and interact with a mother or perhaps grandmother figure, instead of spending much of their day in a walker, crib or bouncy seat? Along with the element of nurture, we also add the elements of texture to all five senses for these infants. Also, we work for more auditory input between baby and caregiver, more touch and input to the body through freedom of movement, more visual stimulation, and more taste because the babies can be fed a variety of foods rather than only formula.
Similar programs in other institutions have shown dramatic results in the babies, and we are so excited at this wonderful chance to bring that same level of excellence to Fuling!
